Emerging markets and developing countries will require US$ 2.4 trillion annually by 2030 if we are to transition to a zero-carbon, climate-resilient world. The bulk of the investment must come from the private sector.
Blended finance solutions are necessary to unlock private capital for climate investments in these markets. Bespoke instruments structured with concessional support can change the risk profile of operations and mobilise private capital that might otherwise not be available.
Blended finance instruments are also an integral part of country-sector platforms and increasingly being identified as able to significantly scale up climate finance. By strategically combining blended finance with policy support, these platforms can create market opportunities that attract sustainable and long-term financing.
This event convenes key stakeholders – including private investors and donors – to discuss how to effectively scale up private capital mobilisation for climate investment.
