The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a call to action to ensure a better world for everyone. Goal 17, “partnerships for goals”, is arguably the most important of all SDGs because achieving any of the other goals depends on collaboration. Governments, the private sector, academia and civil society must work together to reach shared objectives.
This high-level event will focus on the challenges inherent in attaining the SDGs’ principle “leave no one behind” in an increasingly turbulent context. Discussion will focus on how the EBRD, in tandem with our civil society and private sector partners, is building resilience in local communities, as well as developing partnerships for an inclusive and peaceful future. It will explore how stronger coordination and alignment between multiple players can respond to geopolitical challenges, foster new opportunities for growth and deliver a bigger impact. The panellists will also examine the importance of empowering local communities and civil society organisations, and the potential approaches to ensure that they make their own choices in creating a more vibrant and sustainable future.
Participants: Olena Koval - Head of Private Sector Partnerships and Civil Society Engagement, EBRD
Payal Dalal - Senior Vice President, Mastercard
Ines Rocha (Moderator) - Managing Director, Impact and Partnerships, EBRD
